Konferencja dla nauczycieli szkół podstawowych

Program konferencji:

10:00 - 11:15 - Czesław Kiński i Jacek Łagun: Mission possible - how to make a class of lower-primary learners work together as a group

With the administrative changes in lower primary teaching under way, sooner or later we shall all be teaching groups where some children can read and write while others cannot. A mixture of six- and seven year-olds in one classroom will no doubt give the expression 'mixed ability groups' a completely new dimension ...

In our session we'll show you how you can make six- and seven year-olds genuinely co-operate by letting them work at their own pace, according to their individual ability. We’re going to focus on maximizing every individual’s potential in order to build better group dynamics. You'll also leave the session with an innovative approach to reading and writing, which we hope will add a new quality to your teaching.

11:30 - 11:50 -  Nadia Głowaczyk: Nowa Podstawa Programowa - główne założenia i ich realizacja w kursie Evolution

11:50 - 12:50 - Czesław Kiński i Jacek Łagun: Take them to the other side On effective teaching of English to upper-primary learners

"˜Knock-Knock!" "˜Who's there?" "˜Nowa Postawa Programowa and a bunch of fourth-graders-to-be"… Ok, maybe that's not the best 'knock-knock joke' you have ever heard but, the fact is, that the next group of 10-year-olds coming your way, will be children to be taught with even more focus on English for communication than ever, a direct consequence of the teaching aims defined in the new core curriculum. Where does this leave grammar?

In our session, we’d like to show that gradual structure building is key in the steady process of smooth transition from somewhat lost third-graders, pampered by their beloved form-teachers, to young teenagers who make their first attempts to communicate in English. This transition feels like a revolution in their lives, but we would like it to be more of an evolution. And so, we wish to present some evolutionary methods of introducing language structure. This will include teaching grammar for communication in many ways, using regular instruction as well as kinesthetic and visual techniques. You’ll leave the session with a few ideas that may help you devise a programme of more ordered, communicatively oriented language instruction that is in keeping with the new core curriculum.

Szkoły ponadgimnazjalne:

13:10 - 13:30 - Tomasz Buńkowski: Nowa Podstawa Programowa - główne założenia i ich realizacja w kursie Gateway i nowym repetytorium maturalnym

13:30 - 14:30 - Czesław Kiński i Jacek Łagun: Simple. The best. - Creating an effective grammar syllabus for the new oral matura

With the new oral matura just round the corner, we might be wondering what language areas we should focus on to prepare our students for the big challenge. Based on the experience and comments of many English teachers in Poland, we would like to suggest an effective approach to devising a core grammar syllabus for the new exam. At some point in our careers most of us must have wondered why our students keep making elementary mistakes even though we teach them all advanced grammar structures.

We want to walk you through the three parts of the new matura and demonstrate what grammar points a student needs in order to deal with its tasks. Even though it is our dream to work with highly gifted teenagers, who will get top grades in the exam, we also realize that we mostly deal with average learners. Our session is aimed at those of us who work with these typical students, which probably means that we will see each other soon.
